WHAT’S IN THE WORKS Top

The Missouri Apollo Alliance also recently hosted two successful events highlighting both the existing green job creation in the state and the potential for further growth. In the city of St. Louis, the Urban League is leading the state in weatherization progress, putting American Recovery and Reinvestment Act dollars to work and weatherizing more than two hundred homes while putting dozens back to work. In Kansas City, business leaders from a variety of sectors gathered to hear national Apollo Alliance board member Michael Peck join Congressman Emanuel Cleaver and local Apollo business allies discuss the economic growth possibilities of clean energy businesses.

The Missouri Apollo Alliance continues to support the IMPACT Act through gathering support from labor and business.

As we move into the second half of 2010, we have planned work on:
-Helping local municipalities implement programs based on the PACE legislation set to clear the Missouri legislature. These programs will create good, middle-class clean energy jobs for local residents.
-If IMPACT becomes law, convening a table to discuss best implementation in Missouri — making a case for state-matching funds, coordination with existing incentives, workforce development programs, etc.
