August 7, 2009: Energy Research Receives Major Funding
Over $375 million will fund clean technology research at over 40 Energy Frontier Research Centers, the Department of Energy announced yesterday.
Job losses slowed in July.
The Senate authorized a $2 billion extension of the cash for clunkers program, keeping it afloat until Labor Day.
A group of 10 Senators says it will not support a climate bill that does not protect American manufacturing jobs from overseas competition, and called for rebates to offset “energy intensive manufacturing” costs.
The Senate held a final hearing on climate legislation yesterday before beginning a month long break.
The American Psychological Association said “psychological barriers” prevent Americans from embracing action on climate change.
Next week’s National Clean Energy Summit 2.0 will be held in Las Vegas and streamed live on the internet by Clean Skies.
Six utilities have lined up to receive energy generated from the hydrino - a quantum physics-defying “theoretical form” derived from hydrogen, allegedly developed by Blacklight Power.
Local Green: New York Governor David Paterson signed an executive order requiring the state to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent below 1990 levels by 2050. The order also creates a Climate Action Council, charged with developing a plan to achieve the emissions reduction goal.
In Utah, a four day work week (with 10 hour days) for state workers has cut energy use by 13 percent.
