The day after Senator Barack Obama unveiled his New Energy for America plan, Senator John McCain announced support for the construction of 45 new nuclear power plants by 2030. On Tuesday the Department of Energy announced that maintaining the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste disposal site will cost $39 billion more than previously estimated, and require an huge expansion.
