I'm very concerned about the remarks I heard Barack Obama make about clean coal. Recently on public television there was a program about the destruction being caused in the south by pit mining for coal. The pictures were appalling, showing astonishing massive denuding and destroying of ecosystems, including rivers and streams. I don't believe that if coal's cost to the environment were factored in that it could ever be considered clean.

Hello,
My name is Yuliana Lugo and I recently graduated of Chemical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez.. I've been looking for a full time position but so far haven't got any luck. However, the main reason of not obtaining a job is that I only applied to companies where I believed were environmental conscious. Unfortunately most of the companies doesn't care too much about a green environment and pollution control and the harms that we are causing to our beautiful world. I haven't heard much about the Apollo Alliance but all my years as a student I always wished of a green job. And by that, I mean a job where I can feel that I'm applying my knowledge to improve a process or project related to chemical engineering for the benefit of our world. Apollo is a wonderful alliance and a wonderful opportunity for people like me who are interested in working in a real job. I believe that is time that we care about our world, and less about only making money at any cost . If this alliance can help me find the job of my dreams, I would appreciated greatly, and with a lot of enthusiasm, deal with environmental issues such as energy and waste treatment. I believe that we have to start now and with the help of President elect Barack Obama I have faith that we could improve the green energy and enhance new strategies that are more environmental friendly. Also I would like to now if there's a way I could go to the National Conference and learn more about it and look for jobs that are related to what I need.

Thank you and Happy New Year!!

They will be helpful. While there are constructions jobs galore as the turbines go up, long-term maintenance generally requires two technicians for every 10 to 20 turbines.

[...] The New Apollo Program, created by the Apollo Alliance is a very important program to understand as it will most likely be one of the more influential programs that helps really bring the whole Clean Tech Industry off the ground. The plan calls for investing $500 billion over the next ten years on specific steps for generating clean power, improving energy conservation and efficiency, cutting energy bills, restoring America’s technological and industrial preeminence, and creating 5 million high-quality jobs.
The language in the bill S.3725 does not have any funding for Sec. 301, The Clean Energy Service Corps. I hope tis is merely an oversight. Why does the Press Release say there is $3M for CESC? Also the Bill has $1B for the E2 block grants, not $6B.
